At Seed, we have a strong emphasis on culture, which you can read about on our careers page or, if you happen to find yourself sitting in the office at 660 W Lake, observe the mural on our wall! Each value contributes something specific to the culture that we strive towards and we are particularly keen for every member of the team to add value to the community that we live and work in. Often, this means taking the skills that someone has cultivated at Seed and applying them to a good cause.
We know that as a company and individuals that we are in a fortunate position. Being given the trust and resources to execute on a vision is exciting. Giving back not only builds a tangible network to that community, but also, on a personal level, helps each of us stay focused, encouraged and empathetic. We are proud that as a company, we have supported team members who mentor and teach children across the city in maths and science, and have donated to several charities. Recently, we supported shooting and production of ‘Writing Home,’ a romantic comedy set in Ireland, as part of an Irish film course. The film has accepted to the Galway Film Fleadh (Ireland’s premiere film festival).
I’m proud that we have cultivated a sense of giving back and I recently embarked on a 545-mile charitable bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, as part of the AIDS/LifeCycle annual raise. During the 7-day period from June 4 until June 10, over 3,000 people participated in cycling through the hills and valleys of California in the baking sun, with the goal of raising funds for the life-saving services offered by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Whilst I took personal time for the ride, Seed was extremely supportive to the cause, with both the company and my colleagues donating to my personal raise and taking up slack whilst I was out of signal in the middle of California farmlands.
So be it physical commitment, economic donations, moral support the ability to contribute and donate to community is a core and prominent value of Seed, which we feel enriches the daily experience.
